This may be crazy but how does everyone store their rubs; once open to keep them from getting hard :?: :?: I was thinking; put them in a vacum bag. My rubs and spices are building now that I'm getting ready to do some major cooking when I get my smoker. :D :D

Don't let the rub get sucked into your vacum sealer(don't ask how I know).
I keep all of mine in a "hurrican" box that I bought from Sams last year. It is just a large plastic box with a gasket and a clamp on lid. It is semi-water proof. I don't think it really helps the rubs from clumping up.
Its just what I do.

go to your local outoors store and get a couple of moisture blocks( metal tins with silica gel in them) gel changes color when full of moisture. Then you just put them in your oven to recharge! The work great usually with the dry bags and pelican cases.

Thanks newsouth.....I have plenty of Pelican cases that are allegedly waterproof but seem to contain moisture at times. I will try that out.

Don't buy so many, or just buy when you're almost out. :P

BOB
he says as he just recieved a case of Scott's sauce, a gallon of the sauce that helped me win a peoples choice a year ago, some Stump's rubs, some Geaux juice, all to fit somewhere in the cabinets and on the counters with all of the others already residing in this house...

Guess I'm a compulsive buyer when it comes to que    If I would learn how to cook I would not have to try to hide everything :?:   I spend hours in the summer making this sauce, that rub hours of playing. Then comes winter back to work 10 hrs a day. Then I reduce my play time to every other weekend. :D :D   Got to have that rub and sauce down in winter, so I can que for my lunch. I do NOT like school food.

Thanks all for information on how to store, I will go to Bass Pro and look for gel packs, I have a freind that is a pelican dealer, I will see if I can get hooked up :D :D Happy cooking all :D

Tim, if your Pelican dealer friend ever has any deals that he can make public, let me know. I have plenty but you never when you will need one. I use them for everything to include fishing reels, guns, ammo, electronics, etc.
