Thanks guys for all the great comments. I kind of panicked after I put the meat on and the internal temp went up quickly so I cut back the smoker temp and then it got to low so I figured I would just cook it that way and by the 13th hour I took the meat off.
Here is where a good wife comes into play. Yesterday while cooking I invited 6 couples over for tonight to sample the pork. My wife suggested reheating the pork in the crockpot so she put it in there and added 1/2 cup of apple juice with 1 cup of Sweet Baby Ray's sauce and cooked it on low for 4 hours. It was delicious and our neighbors raved about it so all ended well and Next time I hope to have either a stoker or guru managing the temperature and I will make sure the meat reaches 195.
Again thanks for the suggestions. I am new at this and look forward to my next smoke however not in the rain or 13 degrees!

185-195 is a good temp for butts I have found. Foil them if you are short on time. Bark looks pretty good.

I took Busters advice and use briquette when it is colder. More consistent temp. I use Stubbs.

And another thing, you can smoke in the rain, just go buy a vent cap at Home Depot for the stack... ;)

Hey Stump,
No charge to use my smoker, great idea, just let me tag along. I would love to see how you work a competition. I ordered the Stoker yesterday and hope to get it soon but think it will be a couple weeks. Thad was saying there is a comp in Aiken in the spring, maybe you could come over and go to that. Make sure Buster tags along next time.
Thanks,
Leo

I like cookin butts to 203* then restin em in a cooler or wrap em in a old sleeping bag for at least 1 hour before pulling but like others has said great looking smoke ring and theres 3 words that always comes to mind when questions are ask, practice, practice, practice
