So the XL Baby arrived yesterday. Getting her off of the crate, wheels installed, up to my condo unit through the front door, into my condo(without wheels) and onto my balcony was quite the project. Had to remove and install the wheels 3 times, twice because of logistics and once cause we used the wrong bolts. Note, the pneumatic tire upgrade will not fir through a standard 36" doorway, lesson learned the hard way. Wound up having to put it on those sliding furniture mover things to get it across my hardwood floor and out onto my balcony. Thank God for a friend with a floor jack, that thing was a lifesaver.

After receiving it at all, finally getting it in its home spot by 4pm, I fired it up and got her seasoning until pm. After that it was cooking time. Check out the pics below. For a first cook, not bad. I killed the chicken quarters, almost 200degrees when I pulled em. Got distracted by work unfortunately! Everything else was delicious. Did the brisket in a pan for the first time, need to work on that one, but the taste was great! Managed to stumble on a beef rib at the grocery and cooked it to deliciousness! 18 hours of cooktime on one 13lb bag of charcoal.

Yes, that is the Willis (Sears) tower in the background of my Lean picture!

Excellent cook and a great view. I'm a new owner of an XL Baby too. You must have got one of the last ones they are making with the heavy aluminum handle on the door. I understand that from now on if you order the aluminum handle upgrade it will only be on the side of the cooker. The door will only come with the small handle.

The XL Baby is an awesome cooking machine and you already have some great food to prove it. Keep it coming and thanks for the pics.

Forget the food photos (which look great by the way). Moving that beast up to the Condo is the most impressive part of this post. Do you move pianos?

Nice view. Never been in downtown Chi-Town. Only outside. I hear it is a great place though.

Great pictures of both the food and the view.

My daughter went to school in Chicago for Fashion, it is a Fun City.

Great pics! We were in Chicago a few weeks ago. You'll be the most popular guy in that condo building now!
