Has anyone heard of True 'Cue lump charcoal? I saw some in Home Depot in VA and had never heard of it. It was regularly $8 for 8 lbs and I saw some the other day for about $1.50-$2.00 (same size bag). At that price, I think I'll give it a shot. Hopefully it will get hot enough to cook some meat.and not be toxic! :o

Never heard of it, but maybe the Naked Wiz has reviewed?

Just started some up in a Weber Jumbo Joe. My observations (not as indepth) are in line with how Naked Whiz has rated it. It did light fast and has a smell of wood but I did notice a piece of bark that appeared to be some charred pine. So far, doesn't look like it is generating much ash either. I may have to get a few more bags at the cheaper price if I like how long it burns and what type of flavor it gives some chicken breast and pork loin sliced into steaks.

At that price, I would sure give it a try, and unless it tastes really bad, you can at least mix it with other charcoal. I was in Home Depot last night, but I never went near the "gas grill" department. I might need to check them out down here.
