Very clean good looking chunks. Can't wait to fire up a cooker and try it out.

Not really. It's shipped in the "Flat Rate" boxes...if it fits, they ships and the boxes I got were full. Of course, next time I head to StumpTown, I'll buy all I can afford 'cuz it's not that far out of the way.

That's a good idea bob. I just looked at the map and that would work out real good. Can't wait to get that call for the xl!

Thank you for this post. Up here in the north I haven't found a good supply of pecan wood. As I wait for my Stumps, I'm curious, in a typical pork butt or brisket cook how many chunks of wood do you go through?

Just a few, maybe 4 or 5 if you are using the smoke flavor as a spice. By that, I mean that you are just adding s hint of a flavor, not trying to overwhelm the taste of the other spices. If you can pick out a particular flavor, you might have used too much. ;)

It also depends on how dry your wood is. The old rule-of-thumb for drying wood for at least a year doesn't apply to Stump's Smokers, 'cuz you aren't using it as a fuel source, you are just adding a flavor. Baxter's Original is dried just about the right amount in my (and a bunch of others) opinion.
http://www.baxtersoriginal.com and also on Facebook. I think that I saw a picture yesterday of a truckload of BIG pecan logs that they were having delivered. 8-)
