Any opinions on these two sources of smoking woods? I'm getting ready to order some and trying to decide which one to go with. Fruita seems to have a large selection but is some of them really noticeable vs your basic oak, pecan, hickory,Apple, maple or cherry? Fruitaalso seems to be better on shipping cost. Also has anyone used both and feel one is of better quality?

I have used Fruita and would definitely recommend. I have not used Baxter yet so I cant say on them. I know quite a few pro teams from my area use them.

I guess it depends on where you live, and the shipping charges.

BUT, Baxter cooks on Stump's Smokers. Cookin' With Stump, Rescue Smokehouse, Git-R-Smoked, STUMP'd BBQ, and LOTS and lots of others cook with Baxter's Original. Only time I ordered from fruita, I was charged and received LOTS of excuses on why I didn't want what they had in stock before I finally got my refund (4 months later...they were constantly "OUT" of what I wanted, but I was already charged). Fruita also loves to post his ads in groups where advertising is NOT allowed.

Do what you want to do.

I have never had issues with Fruita. With free shipping, the per lb cost is less than the big box store price for crappy wood. Only one time were they out of something I needed for a competition(peach). They sent me apricot(close substitute) with next day shipping for no extra charge. As for quality, having used both, they are about the same with the edge to Fruita.

I have used both. I did not like the shipping from fruita because it came usps which means a 10 mile trip one way to the post office for me. Baxters shipped ups right to my door step. And the one time I had a question about my order at baxters I got a call from Michael Baxter to help me out. Also as already mentioned a lot of stump users are also Baxter users. As for the wood I liked baxters because it looked better and no bark. It was ready to go right out of the box. Both fruita and baxters are way better than the big box store woods.

Yes Fruita is less costly per Lb. I calculated a shipment from Baxter's and it was $18! Up to 15# at Fruita are free. That's a big plus if consensus is that the quality is on par with each other. If on vacation near Baxter's a stop would be warranted.

So your shipment from Fruita had bark on it

Some of it does. But I have received a few pieces of Baxters with bark.

Sounds to me it's almost a toss up except for shipping$. Will try both and see.
