Does the shape cause any feed problems in the chute?

I find this at Mills Fleet Farm, It is a Wisconsin/Minnesota regional everything you need store.

Padge, I do see two stores listed in Iowa, one in Mason City and one in Ankeny IA.

The store doesn't have a very user friendly online merchandise locator. Easy to find items on sale but not regular priced.

No Kingsford for me in a closed cooker. OK for grilling.

Royal Oak is at Wal Mart in N. Florida and I like it.

Stubbs is at Lowe's in N. Florida and I like it too. Sam's has Frontier lump for $9.99. 20# bag I use it in my WSM. Briquettes work better for me in a GF Stumps.

Trader joes briqs are really good. There original charcoal company ranchers briq. Also if you can find them royal oak ultra 100 is supposed to be really good. I use Stubbs when I run out of trader joes.

Thanks for the info. We just got two new trader joes. The bag of Stubbs I got had basic trash in it like metal and crap I got it from lowes so I don't want to try it again. Maybe it came out of a different warehouse on this side of the US. So I want to try royal oak or trader joes like not to have to deal with so much ash.
Thanks.

I am really surprised by the trash in the Stubbs. Now, I have found the stray piece of stuff in RO, but never Stubbs.

If you really want to get down to brass tacks concerning charcoal, go to:

in both my stumps, i like royal oak lump. i get it at walmart or home depot. on its own this isn't going to put smoke on your meat imho, or if it does its a small amount

i use splits (cut down to proper size) for my smoking wood.

mark, you telling me you been cooking with dog food the whole time and haven't told anyone yet? #bbqsecrets
