I'm picking up a new Stumpster, and my first Stumps smoker, on Saturday morning. Naturally, I'll be seasoning it and cooking on it ASAP on Saturday. My question, I normally use Royal Oak lump charcoal. Is that okay for the Stumpster? Rookie question, I know. But, I couldn't find the info anywhere on here. Thanks for any help!

Joe

That'll work. I use whatever I have on hand in the Mini-Stumpster, it really doesn't care what you feed it. Get some cheap vegetable oil and a sprayer to spray down every millimeter of metal inside the cooking chamber before you light it. That includes the bottoms as well as the tops of the cooking racks.

When you're cooking, keep the grease drain CLOSED or if there's a lot of fat in your meat, opened to just a trickle over a small bucket or can to catch the grease or the air can enter through the drain and cause the temperature to run away.
