:D

No more whining from me! It was a long wait but in the end, it was just like everyone said it would be, and well worth it! The quality and craftsmanship on this thing is incredible!

I made the trip down from Charlotte on Wed., spent the night in a local hotel and was at the shop first thing Thursday morning.

Here it is, all ready to go!
Image

The ramp on my trailer is wide slotted aluminum, not solid, so rolling the Jr. up would not be possible so in anticipation of this I had rigged it with a piece of OSB before I headed down. Turns out Stump had a better idea....

Tied down and ready to go!

Stump was even nice enough to lean on it for me before we loaded it up...
Image

Got it home and cleaned it all up...

I even had some bug splatters from the trip home that needed attention but she cleaned up nice...

Image

Out in the driveway, oiled down and ready for seasoning. Loaded it up with a bag of Stubb's and within 25 minutes she was chugging away at 300...

Oh yea, almost forgot the official "Lean" :D :D :D

Good looking Junior-looks just like mine. I would make one suggestion; careful leaving the charcoal chute open unattended. You could get a fire started in there and blister the top of the smoker if you're not careful. I close the chute when I see a little smoke come out. May take a bit longer to reach your target temperature naturaly. I've been using the aid of the digiq to get the temperature with no problem. You're going to love that smoker! Congratulations!

On another note; I've been foiling the chute lid to avoid creosote build up on my seals. It was a good suggestion I got from this forum. When you discard the foil after the cook, you'll see the mess you avoided from getting on tour lid. Just my 2 cents.

Great set of pictures. Thank you for sharing.

I love seeing guys with the lean pictures being posted. Especially when I remember most guys starting on the forums with questions followed by saying they ordered. It is a complete circle in ways.

Question, what type of draft controller are you running? Do you have the temp controller mounted right next to the fan?

Just a suggestion, a battery jump box really works well getting all the extension chords out of the way to run the temp control unit. I ran my Guru for several months on 110v but sure like it now running off a 12v box.

I can't wait to start seeing the food pictures now.......

Nice set of pictures. Nice LEAN, too. BOTH of them. ;)

If ya got a fork lift, that's the ONLY way to load a Stump's Smoker. ;)

Food Pictures?

Not really. The METAL and the insulation is also getting heated if you don't get impatient. That makes the temperature recover faster once you put the meat in there, and it doesn't really drop as far. ;)
Personally, I have NEVER left the charcoal chute door open with a fan hooked up to the smoker. Using just the ball valve, and slightly damp charcoal, sure, I'll leave the chute open for a little while, maybe 20 or so minutes, but if I'm not close enough to watch it, I make sure I'm down wind and I can smell it! ;)
