My stretch rolled off the truck at 3:03 pm ( est time between3-6) uncrated, wheels on ready to clean, oil and season tomorrow. So glad to be part of the family. Love the forum been reading daily since I placed my order in September. It's been a long wait but man she is one fine built machine. Here is the happy couple.

Welcome to the family. You're going to love that stretch. It'll hold a lot of meat and won't use much more charcoal than the smaller ones. ;) ;)

Spring, Texas, huh? How large a place is Spring? You wouldn't happen to know a guy that owns a bunch of Big Green Eggs...Leroy MacMillan I believe is his name? :? Leroy is the first name. ;) ;)

No I am sorry I don't know Leroy. I have only lived in Texas for just over 5 years. Org from Illinois yes I am a Yankee. Spring is just 20 miles north of Houston. Spring wraps around the northwest side of Houston so were pretty, big same county as Houston so that tells ya how big it is. Yea I can't wait to fire it up tomorrow. She's a beast. Trying to figure how to get it in the backyard from the garage. Thinking beer, ribs and some good friends might can get it there. Good use if the plywood it came in will use it to roll it on so it won't sink in the grass.

Welcome! That stretch was a great choice. It should roll in the grass if your planning on having a few extra hands.

well today I seasoned it, oiled it filled it with charcoal and fired her up. I was so impressed the outside temp was in the 30's I ran it at 300 like Thad said or a few hours. then I played with the guru by setting it at 250 for a few hours had extra temp probs so tested temps in different areas and then changed temp up and then down. MAN WHAT A GREAT MACHINE. she held solid just maybe 10 to 13 degrees difference between areas in the pit but not much at all. I LOVE IT> tomorrow it is baby backs, and chicken quarters.

1st question is this I filled the charcoal up not thinking it would run all freaking day and night. Is there a way to shut her down so you don't waste all the coal???? are just be smart about it and don't fill the thing up so full????
thanks

Close the ball valve, turn off the Guru. If you have a cover on the chimney, this is the only time to use it. If you don't have a cover on the chimney, don't worry about it.
Your fire will go out because the only place it gets air/oxygen is through the ball valve. It MIGHT still be warm in the morning, but you will still have your charcoal in the chute.
