Hello All,

I have been on the forum now for a while reading & learning, but have not had a smoker. Well I took advantage of the Black Friday sale and now have a Stumps Classic on order. Though I have read a lot of different topics on the forum, I know there is still a lot to learn. So I'm looking for any recommendations of topics any of you think I should definitely read while I am waiting? Would also be interested in anything worth reading outside the fourm.

Thank you everyone in advance.

Jeff

Welcome and congratulations on your purchase Jeff.

Many different threads here on the forum to start reading through. From FAQ's to how to cook, beef, pork, tips, recipes, inventions, etc. So much great information posted throughout the pages here.

Some very good videos on Youtube if you search out Stumps.

For immediate results, feel free to ask any questions at any time. Someone should be able to answer them for you.

Mark

i dont know your level of experiece, but i would just cook cook practice practice on WHATEVER it is you cook on now. the stumps is a tool. it'll help no doubt and it is my fav BUT ive won on lang & wsm as well as stumps. IMHO they are the very best smokers on the market.

my biggest recommendation is to take the "deliver by" date and throw it out the window. you'll drive yourself crazy waiting for this thing (EVERYbody has been there believe me). once it comes you'll be blown away.

ask away like Mark mentioned. nothing beats practicing though.

Welcome to the Nation. The wait will definitely drive you Nuttz but is worth it once you get your Stumps. In the meantime here is a video I made back when I got my XL Baby. If you have questions don't hesitate to ask

Thank you all for the advice. I was going to say from what I have read I am prepared for the wait, but I know it won't be long before the wait starts to get to me... LOL

Congrats and welcome. Not because they failed me, but because my cooking needs change, I am on my 4th Stumps cooker. Recommend that you read here on the board, also recommend Peace, Love and Barbecue by Mike Mills, and remember that just about anything you can cook in the house you can cook on a Stumps. While I don't know your experience level, I always tell folks you are going to hear a lot of "this is how I do it", and "this is how I do it" and "I've not never done it that way", etc. Just remember that there is no one way to cook on a smoker (I remember the first time I saw an apple pie cooked in a Stumps). So, I say, practice, experiment, finds what works best for you and go with it -- but, remember, you may see something down the road that changes your way. Good Luck.
